A lot of things has happened since Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) worked for the White House, but the new ABC president believes that there are still a lot to look forward to when "Scandal" returns for season 6.

The new network president Channing Dungey talked about how Shonda Rhimes's political drama could still prove that it has more stories to tell despite its ratings decline during season 5.

"It was the fifth season this year," Dungey said during the Television Critics Association's press tour, as reported by Entertainment Weekly. "Long-running shows, there's always a little bit of ebb and flow. We have read the first script for the new season and it's fantastic. It feels very much like a return to form."

Even if season 5 only got an average of 10.68 million viewers compared to the 12.66 million viewers it garnered back in its fourth season, Dungey stated that they are not yet thinking about cancelling the show.

Meanwhile, Variety revealed that the sixth season of "Scandal" has re-cast Vanessa Moss, Jake Ballard's (Scott Foley) wife.

According to the report, the role that was originally portrayed by Joelle Carter now belongs to "Glee" alum Jessalyn Gilsing.

The report revealed that Carter needs to give up her role in the critically acclaimed political drama because of the conflict in schedule due to her other acting stint in the new spin-off "Chicago Justice," which is also set to premiere in NBC during the 2016-2017 midseason.

No word yet if Gilsing's portrayal of Vanessa will be seen all throughout the season.

ABC has yet to announce the date of "Scandal" season 6's premiere. The show was pushed back to the midseason schedule due to Washington's pregnancy. The cast has already convened for the first table read for the upcoming season last month.
