The stars of "Scandal" are back for their first table read for season 6.

The cast members updated their fans through social media by posting photos and video about the events that happened during their first working day for the upcoming season.

Kerry Washington, the actress who portrays the role of Olivia Pope, opted to upload a photo of her character's nameplate on the table to prove that she is gearing up to reprise her role as the feisty former White House communications director. She also added a photo of the "Scandal" ladies, together with co-stars Darby Stanchfield, Bellamy Young, and Katie Lowes with photobomber Tony Goldwyn at the back.

Series creator Shonda Rhimes posted a video showing the entire cast before the actual table read began.

Rhimes also used social media to address the rumored cancellation of "Scandal" after season 6. According to the Twitter post of the series creator, there is no truth to the report of Good Morning America host Lara Spencer that the political drama will end soon.

After Rhimes corrected the rumor, Spencer apologized for her erroneous report on air before the end of the show as reported by The Wrap.

"Hey, during Pop News, we said that this was the last season of 'Scandal,'" Spencer began. "Shonda has weighed in, she just tweeted, and she said we made her spit out her coffee. My apologies. She said she has an ending in mind, but that ending is not happening this next season. So thank you Shonda. Yes, we can all breathe, because as you guys know, it is my absolute favorite show."

Rhimes acknowledged Spencer's apology again on Twitter, saying that she will have the newscaster's back.

"Scandal" season 6 is expected to premiere on ABC in early 2017 as part of the network's 2016-2017 midseason line-up.
