Tony Goldwyn as President Fitz in "Scandal" season 6ABC

The first table read for "Scandal" season 6 has come and gone, leaving the cast members in awe of what's next for the beloved series.

One actor who is vouching for the upcoming season is Tony Goldwyn, who plays the role of President Fitz (set to leave his seat soon) in the series.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the red carpet, the actor, just after their first table read, is confident in saying that "Scandal" season 6 is "unbelievably good."

He said that although the show has been running for five years, the people behind it – creator Shonda Rhimes and the writers – are still "bringing it."

Goldwyn said that the talented team continues to whip up fresh storylines that make the show even better. "It's really good and fans are going to be really psyched," he assured.

He also gushed about the season in an interview with Access Hollywood, where he revealed that the "Scandal" season 6 premiere will be "fantastic" and that the script for the season-opener had them in shock.

With regards to Goldwyn's character, there will be a lot to expect of Fitz seeing that his term as president will soon come to an end and his romance with Olivia (Kerry Washington) is still on the rocks.

According to reports, Jake (Scott Foley) will be closer to Liv this season now that he will be working with her more regularly. As fans will remember, he was chosen as vice president for Mellie (Bellamy Young).

Speaking of which, Young is also unable to contain her excitement about "Scandal" season 6, describing it as "unbelievable" and "amazing."

Unfortunately, all this "Scandal" season 6 action and drama won't hit the small screen until next year. To accommodate Washington's pregnancy, the show was pushed to midseason and was shortened to 16 episodes.

For now, fans will have to get by with the slew of online photos and videos from the table read shared by other cast and crew members.
