Aside from recuperating from his injuries, Walter (Elyes Gabel) will also have to deal with his growing attraction to Paige (Katharine McPhee) when the CBS drama series "Scorpion" returns for its second season.

According to TV Line, the star genius will have a difficult time coming to terms with his feelings for Paige. Executive producer Nick Wootton said that Walter now has to choose whether he will pursue the girl after the latter sort of gave him an ultimatum regarding their relationship.

"They come to a point where Paige says, 'I have these feelings and I did this thing...' And we see how that reverberates through Walter, emotionally," said Wootton.

Meanwhile, if his heart and head feel like exploding from thinking about his love life, Walter also has to deal with the physical pain that comes from his many injuries he got from the past incident. In the season finale, he jumped off a cliff and he has been hospitalized ever since.

While their leader recovers, the rest of the team genius try to continue running their business. Things, however, appear to not be working for Happy (Jadyn Wong), Sylvester (Ari Stidham), and Toby (Eddie Kaye Thomas).

"They've basically been on a break while Walter rehabs his hand... and it's not a very pretty picture. They don't exactly have the same focus apart as they do together," Wootton said.

The synopsis released for season 5 fortunately shows Walter returning for duty soon after. He will reunite the team once again to solve a crisis for Homeland Security. The head of the federal organization wants them to work on a classified mission that poses danger to the American people.

A nuclear powered Russian satellite has apparently been knocked out of orbit. Racing against time, they must divert it before it detonates somewhere over Southern California.

"Scorpion" returns on Monday, Sept. 21, at 9 p.m. EST on CBS.
