Scottish Moderator to Help Raise Awareness of Diabetes

The Rt Rev Sheilagh Kesting, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, will take part in the Diabetes UK Measure Up Roadshow when it comes to the Scottish town of Falkirk today.

The Diabetes UK Measure Up Roadshow will be visiting over 21 towns and cities throughout the UK in an attempt to encourage the estimated 750,000 people who are unaware they have diabetes to be screened.

Diabetes UK's pink roadshow bus will pull into the Falkirk's town centre where free screening tests will be on offer to anyone concerned that they may have the medical condition. Symptoms of the condition include blurred vision and increased thirst.

The Moderator will take part in the Measure Up Roadshow by having her waist measured in an attempt to highlight the link between diabetes and obesity, and raise awareness of the risk of diabetes.

She will meet the staff of Diabetes UK and will be welcoming members of the public aboard the pink bus for their free screenings.

"I am delighted to be involved with this diabetes awareness campaign," she shared. "So many people are unaware that they have diabetes and I would encourage as many people as possible to visit the Diabetes Roadshow."
