'Scream Queens' season 2 news, spoilers: Returning cast and new setting revealed

Dean Munsch played by Jamie Lee Curtis will be back in "Scream Queens" season 2 more ambitious than ever. FOX

Majority of the main cast of "Scream Queens" will be returning in the second season. However, there will be a new and eerier setting for the carnage set to take place in the sophomore season of the horror-comedy anthology.

During the PaleyFest, it was revealed that original scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis will reprise her role as Dean Cathy Munsch in "Scream Queens" season 2.

She will be joined by other season 1 cast members, including Lea Michele, Keke Palmer, Niecy Nash and Glenn Powell. Abigail Breslin, Billie Lourd and Emma Roberts will all return in "Scream Queens" season 2 as the Chanels.

The new setting will be a hospital, which Dean Cathy purchased in an effort to take her passion for education into the healthcare system.

"She's abolished the Greek system in the country, she's written her book. She's traveled the world, series co-creator Brad Falchuk said of Curtis's character come "Scream Queens" season 2.

That being said, the dean is searching for "a new mission" to fulfill and "a new battle" to win. This leads her to turn to healthcare.

In the hospital Dean Cathy owns, Palmer's character Zayday works as an assistant to the dean herself because she has already become a medical school graduate in between the time the first season ended and the time "Scream Queens" season 2 begins.

As for the three Chanels, they were exonerated from the asylum they were subjected to at the end of the first season and they will attend the same medical school.

"All of the girls will be medical students under the rule of Munsch and three hunky doctors," series co-creator Brad Falchuk further detailed. These doctors will be the only male characters in "Scream Queens" season 2 apart from Powell as Chad Rowell.

Meanwhile, Nash's character Denise Hemphill was revealed to have been promoted to a high-ranking FBI agent and will go on to investigate another murder case, which wil have something to do with Michele's Hester once more.

Speaking of the "Glee" star, she suggested that Harry Styles from One Direction, who was cast in Christopher Nolan's movie "Dunkirk," will appear in "Scream Queens" season 2. However, FOX was quick to dispel the rumor.

Sorry for any confusion, but as much as we love Harry Styles he will not be joining the Scream Queens Season 2 cast.
