"Scream Queens" season 2 is set to be even darker than the first. Whereas the first season retained a happy tone through some episodes, the second season will be even more sinister given that the show will shift its focus to an asylum setting where Chanel (Emma Roberts) has been locked up.

According to a report from E! Online, actress Jamie Lee Curtis explained that the hospital setting will have a lot to do with the darker tone of the second season. While this may refer to a darker spin of events in regards to story and character development the actress also hints at more grotesque visuals and killings that could happen.

"I think it'll be dark. I think it's going to be very dark," she explained. "It's in a hospital, there's a lot of darkness in hospitals - dark hallways, scary rooms, sharp objects, a lot of blood, disinfectants."

Lea Michelle, who portrays the villain Hester, also revealed that she would be portraying a darker and far more sinister character in the second season. She did not elaborate further what series creator Ryan Murphy had in mind for the character but did state that whatever Murphy wanted she was willing to go for it.

"Scream Queens" season 2 will pick up where the last season left off, with Hester framing up the Chanel girls for the murders she committed as the Red Devil. With the Chanels in the mental institute the Red Devil may be able to continue her killing spree while ensuring the Chanels get tortured and killed by those in the asylum. 

"Scream Queens" season 2 will premiere this fall. Season 1 premiered on the last week of September and it is speculated by fans that the second season will follow suit, with a late September or early October premiere to bank on the Halloween season.
