'Scream Queens' season 2 spoilers, air date news: newcomer Jerry O'Connell teased in new images

FOX

As per a report from Coming Soon, Fox has released several promotional images for "Scream Queens" season 2, showcasing the characters in their new outfits designed to better suit the hospital setting of season 2. As reported by TV Line, one of the promotional images is an exclusive first look at Jerry O'Connell, a newcomer in the show.

Season 2 will take place three years following the season 1 finale and will no longer take place in the college campus but in the hospital, given that the main characters have been taken into the mental institution during the season finale. As the images reveal it is unlikely that the Chanels will be getting out of the institution any time soon.

According to TVLine, Jamie Lee Curtis' character Dean Munsch has changed during this period and is now the face of a feminist movement. She is also the one in charge of the hospital and it is widely speculated that she will be in charge of the Chanels. It is possible the girls will be working directly under her although Munsch's intentions and goals are still unknown.

O'Connell's character remains a mystery although the image showcases him in a medical labcoat holding a syringe, indicating he is connected to the hospital in some manner. The report does claim the hospital handles bizarre medical cases and it is possible O'Connell's character is an eccentric and evil doctor conducting experiments on patients.

The actor, known for his work on "Crossing Jordan," will be joining other newcomers such as "Full House" veeran John Stamos, "Hart of Dixie" star Laura Bell Bundy, "Twilight" star Taylor Lautner and "Saturday Night Live" veterans Cheri Oteri and Cecily Strong. Season 1 stars Jamie Curtis, Emma Roberts, Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer and Lea Michele are also returning.

"Scream Queens" season 2 will premiere on Fox this Sept. 20.
