Those who have been clamoring for new information about the upcoming action-adventure video game "Sea of Thieves" will soon get loads of intel during the Game Awards next month.

Xbox Games Marketing General Manager Aaron Greenberg teased as much, and with the recent Insider Report post made by executive producer Joe Neate, fans were given a glimpse on what to expect during next month's Game Awards.

According to Neate, they are going to set a release date for the game very soon, and along with the release date announcement, a new short trailer about his "favorite funny moments in one of our trailers for quite a while" will also be released.

The team behind "Sea of Thieves" wants to get as much as customer feedback as possible before the scheduled release date so they can perform the necessary tweaks before the game goes live for real. In line with that, they have scheduled a new play session in December, and players who want to participate will have access to a lot of new features in early stage.

Apparently, the upcoming play session allows participating players to be rewarded with more than just gold, and there will be a slight difference in performing and acquiring quests. Gameplay progress will also be slightly different from before.

"Sea of Thieves is a shared-world adventure game (or "SWAG," as we're fond of calling it)," reads the game's official description. "It's a multiplayer game with crew co-operation at its core, and our ambition is to let players be the kind of pirates they want to be. Whether you'd like to hunt for legendary treasures, sail to the furthest island in the distance or hunt down rival crews, our ambition is to build a game that lets you pursue whichever adventure your salty heart desires."

Currently, "Sea of Thieves" is in the Technical Alpha stage, meaning only a certain percentage of players who joined their Insider program can have access to the ongoing play sessions. The game is scheduled to be released in early 2018 for Xbox One, Xbox One X, and PC.
