This game is a repeat of the match up between these two teams at this exact same stage of the Playoffs last season. That time the Seahawks came out on top, and although the Panthers have been in the better form throughout this past season, it will be the Seahawks, with their strong postseason pedigree that will be favorites in many people's eyes.

However, the Panthers managed to claim a confidence boosting victory over the Seahawks just in October in the regular season, and they must now prove they can do the same when the stakes are much higher in knock out football.

But if Seattle can turn the tide and win today then they will make it through to their third consecutive NFC Championship game next weekend.

In October's clash, the Panthers traveled to Seattle to face a Seahawks team that had won nine straight games at home, and 28 of their last 30 including the Playoffs.

When the Seahawks were 13 points up in the second half it appeared the result would again for Seattle's way. However, a Panthers rally climaxed when Cam Newton threw to Greg Olsen for a 26 yard touchdown pass with just 32 seconds remaining to give Carolina a 27-23 victory.

The Panthers went on to post an extraordinary 15-1 record, which was a new record for the franchise in the regular season, and makes them one of the favorites for this year's Super Bowl.

Seattle meanwhile had a tough start to the season and at one point looked like they wouldn't make the Playoffs at all. However, a strong surge in the second half of the season saw them win eight of their last 10 games to finish the season to get them into the postseason.

Last week Seattle claimed a 10-9 victory over the Minnesota Vikings to get through to this game, however, most Seahawks fans will admit that there was a certain amount of luck to their progress.

The Seahawks performance last weekend will not have struck fear into the Carolina team, however, they will still know Seattle's strong Playoffs pedigree and will know they've got a big job on their hands today.

But some Carolina players at least, have full belief that they are the stronger team this year.

Safety Roman Harper said, "We are the better team. We have to go out and show confidence in who we are and the things that we have done all year - and don't shy away from the pressure."
