Fans are in for some disturbing and gut-wrenching plots when ABC's "Secrets and Lies" returns for its second run next year.

Zap2it reports that the upcoming installment will be "more emotionally charged" than the last, where viewers saw Ben Crawford (Ryan Phillippe) wasting his life away in jail after getting imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. Crawford was charged of his son's murder, when the real killer was actually his 10-year-old daughter.

Michael Ealy, who will be replacing Phillippe as the new lead, dished out on what to expect next season. According to him, fans will witness "a lot more family drama." The acto also said that the new additions to the cast will be bringing a different energy to the set.

"It's a new case, new people. Still Charlotte. And it's going to be a little bit more disturbing I think for people, than the first one," said Ealy, who will play lead character Eric.

Aside from Ealy, the series will welcome newcomers like Terry O'Quinn, who will be playing John, Eric's father. Charming and very successful, the finance magnate single-handedly built the family's private equity firm in Charlotte, N.C. There is also Jordana Brewster, who will be portraying Eric's wife Kate, an accomplished attorney.

Other casts make up the rest of Eric's family, according to Enstarz. Mekia Cox wil be his sister, Charlie Barnett the brother, and AnnaLynne McCord the sister-in-law. Kenny Johnson will also join the cast as a potential murder suspect.

Season 2 follows Eric, whose wife Kate is murdered during a family party. His father John has decided to bequeath him the Warner's private equity firm, and the event is a celebration for his inheritance. When Kate's body is found, Eric is immediately considered the lead suspect by Detective Cornell's (Juliette Lewis), the one in charge of the investigation.

"Secrets and Lies" season 2 will premiere on ABC in 2016.
