The SEGA Mega Drive Collection for PlayStation 4 (PS4) and Xbox One was accidentally announced on Twitter via a post that was deleted not long after. Fans think the Tweet was posted earlier than it was supposed to, seeing as it reportedly contains a trailer as well as a May 29 release date for the upcoming collection.

TechRadar reported the news on Mar. 14. SEGA has reportedly confirmed the content of the Tweet. Furthermore, SEGA revealed there will be both digital and physical releases of the classics collection and that it will contain more than 50 titles. TechRadar reported that each of titles included in the collection boasts modern features such as online multiplayer, mirror modes, achievements, rewind and save states.

IGN reported that a SEGA representative told the website that SEGA is focused on the launch of the collection on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One alongside the update to the Steam personal computer (PC) version, halting any speculations about a possible Nintendo Switch release. IGN published the list of the games that are included in the upcoming collection. Some of the games in the classics collection include "Altered Beast," "Alien Storm," "Lair," "Sword of Vermillion," "Vectorman," "Kid Chameleon," "Ristar," "Phantasy Star II," "Golden Axe," "ESWAT: City Under Siege," "Fatal Labyrinth," "Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine," "Crack Down," "Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle," "Shining Force" and "Sonic 3D Blast."

The exclusives for the upcoming collection include the following — "Alien Soldier," "Bio-Hazard Battle," "Galaxy Force II," "Gunstar Heroes," "Landstalker," "Light Crusader," "The Revenge of Shinobi," "ToeJam & Earl" and "ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funktron."

Preorders for SEGA Mega Drive Collection will open in the United States and Europe soon. SEGA launched an official website for the collection. In addition, those who will pre-order the physical edition of the collection will get a double-sided "Golden Axe"/"Streets of Rage" poster.
