Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is now seeding to several Android One devices in India. These handsets include Micromax Canvas A1, Spice Dream Uno Mi-498, and Karbonn Sparkle V. The update, which is 11.8 MB in size, changes the phones' build number to LMY47V.

Those who have yet to get the update can manually check its availability by going to Settings -> About Phone -> System Updates. Since the update is sent over the air, it will take days before all the said Android One smartphones will be able to receive it.

Android 5.1.1 Lollipop is the newest version of Google's operating system. It may not be as incremental as the 5.0 or the 5.1 version but this update does so much in terms of fixing bugs, most of which were brought by the previous versions. The software also brings stability and performance improvements.

The rollout of the newest update is Google keeping its promise on keeping Android One devices up-to-date in terms of the operating system. That said, the newest Lollipop build is expected to be released in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Nepal, the Philippines, and Sri Lanka as well.

Android Authority also lists other smartphones, namely Symphony Roar A50, Cherry Mobile One, Evercross One X and Myphone Uno, as other Android One devices up for a 5.1 Lollipop makeover. [Click on the links associated with the handsets to download the update.]

The said smartphones are among the first to don the firmware. Just last month, Google rolled it out to the Nexus 4, Nexus 5 and Nexus 9 LTE and factory images were made available for the Nexus Player shortly after.

Meanwhile, the tech giant has successfully brought Lollipop to 12 percent of Android devices since it was first released back in October last year. Google is currently working on its follow-up, Android M, of which the developer preview was recently deployed.
