Singers Selena Gomez and The Weeknd have decided to end their romantic relationship after 10 months of dating.

While fans may attribute the breakup to the recent reconnection between Gomez and her ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber, sources close to the situation are saying that the decision was made mutually by the two parties.

"It was more of a mutual break up," said one source. "They were distant because of work. It didn't end in a bad way."

The source also clarified that it was over between Gomez and The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tefaye, before she and Bieber started hanging out again.

"Abel is not upset about Selena and Justin hanging out," the source added. "Their relationship was over before they were hanging out. Abel is not dwelling over anything."

The Weeknd is currently away on tour, and it turns out that the distance between the singers did not help in their relationship. The pair tried to make the relationship work. However, Gomez needed her boyfriend to be more present. She ultimately decided that she "needed more than what The Weeknd could give her."

The source also revealed that the fights between the couple were not very big, but they started happening more often as time went on.

Gomez and The Weeknd started dating back in January, and got many fans excited when they were seen kissing outside Giorgio Baldi in Los Angeles. The pair went together to the Coachella Music Festival, Met Gala, and the New York Fashion Week.

Meanwhile, Gomez and Bieber, who previously dated for three years, were spotted together when they grabbed breakfast at a café in Westlake Village on Sunday morning. Later in the day, the two were seen attending church services together.

Bieber also spent time at Gomez's house last weekend. He reportedly stayed at her house until midnight.
