A source close to the "Never Say Never" singer said to People that this was the couple's way of reducing the rumors surrounding their outings. The insider also added that the 23-year-old "Sorry" singer could not handle the stress.

The source revealed that Bieber was focusing on his mental health, which was mainly the reason why he canceled his tour. While this was the case, another source claimed that the former Disney star and the "Friends" singer were just "being a bit low-key."

Another insider, meanwhile, claimed that Bieber and Gomez were not yet together, but that "it was getting there." Prior to this, they were spotted together multiple times, attending church and riding bikes.

Reports say that Bieber and Gomez started talking with each other again after the latter's kidney transplant surgery. In the past months, fans saw how the 25-year-old "Fetish" singer went to Bieber's hockey game, leaving the venue wearing her ex's hockey uniform. They were also seen grabbing breakfast at Joi Café in Westlake, California, and later in the same day, they were reportedly in church together.

During the outings, The Weeknd and Gomez, who were dating prior to her surgery, reportedly called their relationship off. Although it may seem like the break-up and Gomez's outing with her ex-boyfriend are related, insiders say that the conflict in schedule was what ended The Weeknd and Gomez's budding romance, not Bieber's alleged meet-ups with Gomez.

The Weeknd, or Abel Makkonen Tesfaye in real life, and Gomez dated for 10 months before reportedly calling it quits in late October. Both parties have not issued any statement on the rumors linking their split to Bieber.
