It was previously reported that "Sense8" season 2 would premiere as early as late summer or early fall 2016 given that the series was greenlit for a second season almost immediately after the first season launched on Netflix. That may no longer be the case now as a new report indicates season 2 may be delayed to late 2016 or 2017.

In an interview with The Film Stage, cinematographer John Toll discussed the adjustment phase of working with the Wachowski siblings from the big screen to the small screen. When asked if he would return for a second season, Toll stated that there are discussions going on in regard to schedules and planning.

However, when asked when production for season 2 would commence, Toll simply stated "They're talking about March."

Filming for a series such as "Sense8" may take from two to four months or even longer if there are plans to re-shoot certain scenes. Post-production will follow and is estimated to take twice as long to complete. If this holds true then the second season will not be able to make its summer or fall 2016 premiere.

Netflix's launch schedule will also have to be taken into consideration. 2016 will be packed with several new series such as "Jessica Jones" and new seasons of ongoing franchises such as "Longmire" and "Daredevil." Given that Netflix launches new shows on Fridays, there will be limited slots to insert "Sense8" season 2 so late in the year.

A report from Realty Today also points out that production on "Sense8" season 2 will take time due to its complex nature of filming in numerous locations. This is because the main characters of the series are all in different areas of the world. The Wachowski siblings have also made it a point to shoot in real locations instead of using a set.

With all factors considered, "Sense8" may release in late 2016 or by 2017.
