'Sense8' season 2 renewed or cancelled? Netflix to announce show's fate

Netflix has yet to announce the verdict on the future of "Sense8." This leaves fans on tenterhooks on what could happen to the science fiction drama Web series.

Series co-creator J. Michael Straczynski finds no reason to be nervous as he firmly believes that Netflix will go on with the show. According to Comic Book Resources, his confidence stems from what Netflix reps told him, saying they watched the first season "straight through – three, four, six times."

If this isn't a subtle hint that they want more, it really will be surprising that "Sense8" season 2 won't happen. According to VC Post, although there were naysayers, the show pulled through, earned an eager fanbase, and ended its 12-episode first season with a bang.

For some, the finale felt like everything was all good for the characters and it was made as if it was an ending to the show itself. But this doesn't mean that there won't be any more stories to tell. Straczynski has plans on working long-term with more science mysteries. He already has a clear picture of "Sense8" season 2 and the seasons that will follow.

Last month, he told Indiewire, "I love five-year arcs, so we have a five-year arc worked out for this thing. We know what all of the seasons are going to be."

In the same interview with CBR, Straczynski said, "It's such a pleasure dealing with gender issues, privacy issues, sexuality issues that really have not been seen before [on television]."

"Sense8" follows eight strangers brought together by violent visions. The finale of the first season was aired last June 5. The series co-creator also said that by this week, Netflix will inform him if the show will get renewed for season 2 or not.
