Service to church schools celebrates first birthday

A new service helping church schools find the right teachers and support staff, has just celebrated its first birthday.

Emmaus Recruitment was founded in response to concerns raised by many church schools around the UK over the difficulty in finding the right staff, especially for leadership roles.

Liam Dowds, managing director of Emmaus Recruitment, said: "It’s a sad fact that about 85 per cent of Christian teachers are not working in church schools. We aim to rectify that.

"We believe that church schools have a particular ethos worth preserving, and we offer a personal service to schools to ensure they recruit the appropriate people."

Emmaus works closely with diocesan directors of education, head teachers and education specialists up and down the country to promote the unique ethos and attraction of working within a church school.
