PlayStation released the first-ever developer commentary session for the upcoming remake of the action adventure video game "Shadow of the Colossus." The intro of the remastered version of the game was well received by fans and critics. The game will be released on Feb. 6, 2018.

The commentary video features Bluepoint Games' President Marco Thrush, Art Director Mark Skelton, and Technical Director Peter Dalton. Several fans and critics agreed that the intro for the remake is a clear improvement compared to the original edition of the game for the PlayStation 2. The intro of the game was fully reanimated according to the developers.

Dalton also shared that instead of the usual graphics remastering, Bluepoint decided to be more thorough in the development. "Some of the things you're seeing here is you know, a completely, the environment are completely, the hill side completely remade from scratch. Basically taking the original as a template and adding on top of it,"

Skelton revealed that they struggled in the visual scale of the game and that they wanted to maximize the environment. Skelton explained, "When you're moving around you realize just the large, the vastness of what this environment that you're moving through."

It was also discussed in the video that Bluepoint wanted to utilize warmer colors for the game, especially for the sky. This decision by the developer is to promote an inviting visual representation for the game.

VideoGamer and GameInformer both commended the intro of "Shadow of the Colossus" for its well-detailed graphics. It was also pointed out by several video game publications that the game will feature a new control scheme. There are still no information from the developers if the remake version will bring new gigantic enemies and characters.

The remake of the 2005 classic video game was announced back in June during the Sony E3 2017. The PlayStation 2 edition of the game received high ratings from video game critics.
