The Xbox One and PlayStation 4 editions of "Shadow Warrior 2" finally has a release date.

According to the game's Twitter account, the contemporary ninja warrior named Lo Wang and his friends will start their adventures on the consoles starting Friday, May 19.

Tadel Zielinski, the community manager from indie game developer Flying Wild Hog, also reveals on the PlayStation Blog that the game's relaunch on consoles will include a free download of the "Shadow Warrior" for PlayStation 4 alongside "The Shadow Warrior Collection."

"Shadow Warrior 2" is the sequel to the 2014-released "Shadow Warrior" game for PC, which was rebooted from the original game released in 1997.

According to Zielinski, the development team incorporated a fast-moving gunplay with the franchise's signature melee battles.

"Players will have access to dozens of weapons, from handguns and assault rifles to katanas and chainsaws, allowing them to thin the enemy horde from a distance before jumping into the fray and cutting down what remains," he shares. "This interplay between ranged firing and melee combat drives Shadow Warrior 2 and forces an interesting risk-versus-reward decision for players when deciding on how to handle each combat situation."

Zielinski lso shares the game is Flying Wild Hog's most expansive game at the moment, and they are very excited to introduce it to console players this week. He also mentions they are hoping to see the fans of the original game enjoy the upcoming sequel on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as much as they do in the first one.

The console editions of "Shadow Warrior 2" can be purchased for $39.99. Aside from the downloadable version of the original game, reports claim it is still unclear if the new editions will also feature the games' two DLC packs or if it will come out with a physical version.
