BBC One's "Sherlock" is as impressive as its two lead actors, Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman. But with the season 4 release to happen in 2016, rumors and speculations plague the series right now and this might just go on until the new season airs in another year or so. 

One of the most ridiculous-sounding speculation about "Sherlock" is the unusual relationship between friends Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson. The shipper fans are quite vocal about this observation and they are quite passionate about pursuing such an opinion, too. 

This set of fans believe that Cumberbatch and Freeman should get together off-screen and on-screen. Indeed, it is such a weird opinion for the two great actors but Freeman is taking it all in with humor. Nonetheless, he did address the growing issue on "The Jonathan Ross Show" last weekend, just to clear the air for the doubters out there. 

"The creators of the show are aware of that and I think they play with it to a certain extent," Freeman explained. "I am slightly reticent to keep that going too much just because when it first started, I thought it was quite witty and quite funny that people were running with that ball and its fine but there are people that just will not have it." 

Freeman also put to rest the issue of him and Cumberbatch being together.

"Not only are John and Sherlock not a couple but that me and Ben are not a couple. So there are people that are actually absolutely determined that [wife] Amanda is my beard. Me and [Benedict Cumberbatch] are friendly but we're not married!"

According to CarterMatt.com, filming will start early next year. The delay in the release date was due to the very tricky schedule of both Cumberbatch and Freeman. Nonetheless, creator Stephen Moffat shares that season 4 will be better.

"We have a plan to top season 3. And I do think our plan is devastating. We've practically reduced our cast to tears telling them the plan. We're probably more excited than we've ever been about Sherlock," Moffat said.
