Benedict Cumberbatch has been under the spotlight for the past few weeks following the release of "Doctor Strange." However, the actor is going to be in the public's eye again as "Sherlock" season 4 premieres this January, and now, the folks at PBS and BBC have given fans a few teaser images to reveal what's in store.

The most notable image, as reported by TV Line, is a shot that showcases Sherlock with Dr. Watson (Martin Freeman) and his wife, Mary (Amanda Abbington). In the photo, Watson is shown carrying a baby with him, further confirming the rumors that Watson and Mary will have a child.

It should be noted that the implication of Mary being pregnant was present in season 3. The story never delved too deep into it as Mary was a retired spy, and Sherlock had to struggle with the repercussions of his return to London.

Culverton Smith, played by Toby Jones, is also shown in one of the images. Culverton will be the main villain of season 4, although the image does not showcase the full extent of his influence and power. It has been widely speculated that he has been working with Moriarty (Andrew Scott) back when the latter was still alive.

Other images that were released once again showcase Sherlock with his new canine ally, and there is one image focusing on Mrs. Hudson (Una Stubbs) who has a shocked expression on her face. It is unclear at what she is looking at, unfortunately, although it is likely connected to one of Sherlock's new cases.

According to a report from Screen Rant, the writers and producers have stated Culverton will be their darkest villain yet. With such a dangerous criminal facing Sherlock and Watson, it is widely speculated that Watson's child may be in peril before the season is over.

"Sherlock" season 1 premieres in the UK and the US on Jan. 1, 2017.
