"Sherlock" season 4 won't happen until next year, but due to the popularity of the show, the plot and story for the new season remains to be a hot topic.

A new change

Steven Moffat, co-creator of "Sherlock," told Entertainment Weekly that season 4 will be different and it will be more exciting than ever.

"We have a plan to top [Season 3]. And I do think our plan is devastating. We've practically reduced our cast to tears telling them the plan. We're probably more excited than we've ever been about Sherlock," Moffat revealed.

In the same interview, fellow co-creator Mark Gatiss supports Moffat's statement, saying, "We're going to try to take it somewhere we've never been before — and I don't mean outer space. It will be a challenging place to go. We always start with a re-introduction that builds toward a darker climax — we might just be going darker. We got a very, very good set of ideas."

A new life

Dr. John Watson received great news when season 3 ended. Mary Morstan, his new wife, is pregnant. Mary might already be seen with a baby bump come Christmas, during the show's the holiday special.

Actress Amanda Abbington dished to Vulture that an army doctor plus an ex-assassin raising a child together might be a recipe for disaster.

"They'd probably be reckless because they're both quite psychopathic... I mean, that kid has got nothing to worry about. Screwed up mentally, of course, but if there's any bullying on the playground, we're covered," Abbington said.

A death

Abbington may have spoken too quickly. It has been a hot issue if her character will be killed off in the next season, seeing that Morstan got killed in the book. Although the show doesn't completely follow the book, Morstan's death could be a plot stirrer that will bring the show to a whole different level of darkness.

Elsewhere, "Sherlock" fans should be happy to know that actors Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are already hard at work in filming the Christmas special. As per Mirror UK's report, the two were seen filming at Gloucester Cathedral, complete with their costumes and props. Cumberbatch and Freeman made sure that they brought their natural charm and charisma, much to the delight of their fans.
