As reported by Siliconera, Atlus launched a Twitter campaign with a goal of reaching 15,000 tweets. The goal has been achieved and the company officially revealed "Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final" for the Nintendo 3DS. Details for the game has then been revealed in a report from Famitsu (via Gematsu).

"We've looked over a lot of player feedback from 'Shin Megami Tensei IV' and we're making improvements everywhere we can, even to thinks like controls and demon conversations - there is a lot of reconsideration and reforming going on," explained game producer Kazuyuki Yamai.

Yamaii also confirmed that they aimed for this game to be the top RPG for the system and that the game was being designed so that newcomers can jump right in even if they never played through the first "Shin Megami Tensei IV" title. It is then noted that the game is already 90 percent complete.

According to the report, the game will be a follow-up to the 2013 original, "Shin Megami Tensei IV." The synopsis states that the game takes place in the year 203X, roughly 25 years after the "gods war" that destroyed much of Tokyo. People are now fighting to survive as resources such as food are low in supply.

The protagonist is described as a member of the Outlaw Hunters. He is later attacked by demons and dies. He will be accompanied by an unnamed, mysterious demon and the two form a compact, leading to the protagonist's revival while also gaining the ability to summon demons.

Asahi, the protagonist's childhood friend, and Navarre from "Shin Megami Tensei IV" will also be in the player's party.

"Shin Megami Tensei IV: Final" is scheduled to release in Japan on Feb. 10, 2016. There are no confirmations at this point regarding a Western release but given the success of the first game, "Final" is expected to hit North America and Europe sometime after the Japanese release.
