Despite the Switch's massive success as both Nintendo's newest console and handheld, the 3DS still has some life left within and a few big titles to look forward to, one of which is "Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux" which finally has a release date.

According to a tweet by Atlus U.S.A., fans of the series can look forward to grabbing the remastered version of the game on May 15. Alongside the release date, they also revealed the new box art for the game which contains the main cast of the original as well as Alex, the new character introduced in "Redux."

To those that might be unfamiliar with the title, "Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux" is a remastered update of the original "Strange Journey" that came out for the Nintendo DS in 2009. In it, players take on the role of a United Nations soldier sent to investigate an anomaly known as Schwarzwelt, a dome of dark energy that is filled with demons that threaten the world.

Gameplay-wise, "Strange Journey Redux" is a first-person dungeon crawler with turn-based battles as the main form of combat. As anyone familiar with the "Shin Megami Tensei" series would know, the game also allows players to negotiate and recruit demons by their side and, later on, fuse them into more powerful demons. In a way, it's essentially a darker and more mature "Pokemon."

In addition to a general upgrade in visuals, "Redux" improves upon the original by adding over 30 new demons for the player to collect as well as the addition of Alex.

While it's still unclear what Alex's role in the story will be, she will play a major role in the story and will change things up even for returning players. With her comes new endings as well as new dungeons for the players to explore.
