The video game company Atlus confirmed that "Shin Megami Tensei V" would be getting a Western release. No specific release dates have been given, but the game is anticipated to be playable on the Nintendo Switch platform.

Set in modern-day Tokyo, "Shin Megami Tensei V" follows in its predecessor's footsteps and pits its players against a slew of monsters and demons. Similar to the game's release date, not much news about the plot or the upcoming characters and enemies were revealed.

However, a new trailer was uploaded to Nintendo's YouTube channel on Nov. 29. Prior to the new Nintendo trailer, the "Shin Megami Tensei V" trailers were released purely in Japanese. Now, fans outside Japan will have the chance to take a closer look at the newest additions to the "Shin Megami Tensei" franchise and what it is all about.

The trailer first showed the train station in modern-day Tokyo. The station was crowded, but something ominous is lurking. The trailer then pans out and transitions from the mundane life to the demons hidden away from society

"In this lightless age of corruption, we long for the dawn." The words flashed across the screen towards the end of the trailer. The words might seem a little vague, but they served as a nice reminder regarding the interview between video game news site Famitsu which as translated by Gematsu and the leader of the development team for "Shin Megami Tensei V," Kazuya Yamai."

In an interview, Yamai revealed that he wanted "Shin Megami Tensei V" to be a re-examination of our current era, something people could sympathize with - anxieties about work and school, fears of failure, terrorism, growing old.

Yamai wanted to craft a story and a game that resonates with the human condition. However, fans will have to wait to see whether or not "Shin Megami Tensei V" lives up to the hype.
