Details

This incredibly powerful film which takes place in Kigali at the outset of the Rwandan genocide, is previewing today in VUE cinemas across the country.

It is based on a story co-written by BBC journalist David Belton, who was working in the country at the time and focuses on a school (as well as its staff and pupils) which, under the protection of the UN, became a refuge for Europeans and Tutsis escaping the town's Hutu militias.

The film was made on location in Kigali, with many survivors of the genocide employed as cast members, extras and advisors.

This all lends Shooting Dogs an air of authenticity and integrity as it examines the extreme choices people make under extraordinary circumstances.
