The upcoming episode of "The Chi" will be tension filled.

The women were on the forefront of the last episode of "The Chi" last Feb. 18, while on the upcoming episode, titled "The Whistle," tension seems to be building even more between Ronnie Davis (Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine) and Tracy (Tai'isha David). As Tracy enters a Fellowship Hall, she proclaims that she is "not quite sure what she's looking for" despite being there. Detective Cruz also comes across Ronnie and asks him to walk away, unless he wants the detective to start asking more questions.

Last week's episode, titled "Penetrate a Fraud," revealed that Ronnie has the missing phone that Detective Santos has been looking for. Tracey was the reason why Ronnie was brought in for questioning, and as seen in the promo, Ronnie may still be undecided as to whether he can trust the detective with what he knows.

The previous episode also showed how sparks have begun to fly between Brandon (Jason Mitchell) and his boss Sarah (Jenna Anne), and Emmett (Jacob Latimore) got himself involved in selling fake sneakers off the back of a truck in an alley and, as expected, he got robbed doing so.

These scenes point toward all-new conflicts that are set to arise in the series that focuses on the daily dangers that the residents of the south side of Chicago face.

Actor Jason Mitchell, who first made waves in his movie "Straight Outta Compton," sees the drama-filled series as a way to shine light on the real ins and outs of Chicago, and how the people that get involved in certain crimes may not necessarily be truly "bad."

The series is written by Chicago-native Lena Waithe, who recently became the first African-American woman to receive an Emmy Award for comedy writing. Her goal with "The Chi" is to bring a semblance of intimacy between the story of the daily life in "The Chi" and the viewers.

Catch the seventh episode of "The Chi" on Showtime as it airs on Feb. 25 at 10 p.m. EST.
