Nintendo has finally confirmed that the Silver Mario amiibo will be coming out on May 29 for $12.99 apiece. This means that the figure will be launched together with the Wave 4 set, which includes Robin, Lucina, Pac-Man, Ness, Charizard, and Wario.

As was previously reported by IGN, the Silver Mario figure was first sighted by an amiibo collector. The collector found the item in a Chinese auction site and immediately purchased it. A video showcasing the amiibo in action with "Mario Party 10" was then posted online on May 10.

Earlier this month, the Gold Mario amiibo was launched as a Wal-Mart-exclusive within the United States. A report from Game Rant confirmed that Nintendo will not be offering the Silver Mario as a retailer-exclusive, meaning it can be purchased from different retailers online and in brick-and-mortar stores.

The new amiibo is compatible with many Wii-U and 3DS video games but the main highlights include "Mario Party 10," "Mario Kart 8," "Super Smash Bros." for Wii-U and 3DS, "Hyrule Warriors," "Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker" and "Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy."

When used for these games, the Silver Mario amiibo will unlock new items or costumes and other game exclusives. For instance, when used with "Mario Party 10," it unlocks the Silver Mario character and gives players one silver token for game use.

As reported by iDigital Times, the amiibo is already available in Canada but U.S. gamers will have to pay a hefty $75 price in order to get it shipped across the border.

After the release of the Wave 4 amiibo set and the Silver Mario amiibo, the next line-up will launch in July and then in September. The next launch line-up includes Dr. Mario, Bowser Jr., Captain Olimar, Ganondorf, Zero Suit Samus, Palutena, and Dark Pit.
