'Silver Surfer' movie rumors: Film secretly underway; Brian K. Vaughan to write script for movie

FOX working on a new standalone film starring the Silver SurferFOX

Fans of the Marvel universe can look forward to another movie starring another fan-favorite comic book superhero in the form of the Silver Surfer. Fox has reportedly proceeded with the silver hero's standalone film with Brian K. Vaughan writing the script for the upcoming project.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the planned superhero project is just part of the large roster of new hero movies FOX is intending to accomplish -- which includes new movies for the "X-Men" franchise and the upcoming "Deadpool" sequel.

However, among these planned films, there are two currently in the works -- the "Doctor Doom" solo movie and a standalone film for the silver-toned space surfer Silver Surfer.

The "Silver Surfer" film will be written by comic book writer Brian K. Vaughan, notable for his works on "Saga" and Hulu's "Runaways."

Meanwhile, the "Doctor Doom" film was confirmed to be in the works last year in the San Diego Comic Convention with Noah Hawley taking charge.

Right now, all these are just mere speculations. FOX has not announced nor confirmed a movie top-billing the cosmic surfer. Fans should always take these new developments with a grain of salt, unless FOX confirms the information.

Silver Surfer is among the top favorites when it comes to Marvel comic book superheroes, that is why even the smallest of rumors break out into a full-on community affair. He was first introduced in the 1966 comic book series "The Fantastic Four," gaining popularity as the years went along.

The cosmic hero starred in his own animated series back in 1998 titled "Silver Surfer," a testament to the character's popularity.

Marvel describes the Silver Surfer as an ordinary being that gave up himself in order to save his planet from the massive entity known as Galactus. After Galactus' defeat, he went on a journey to find his lost home.
