Earlier this month, fans of "The Simpsons" were devastated to learn that after 27 years, one of television's longstanding couples is about to separate. Executive producer Al Jean told Variety that Homer and Marge were heading for a split at the start of the new season this fall, and that Homer will have his eyes on another woman. 

Now, Homer and Marge are fighting back the divorce rumors as they have just released a statement, letting the world know that rumors of their separation are absolutely false. In the video, the couple is sitting on two huge pink chairs under a banner which reads, "Together Forever." 

"Homie and I are here to address baseless rumors that we're going to split up," Marge says. "The story was first reported on CNN, and then the real news started reporting it, all over the world."  

"Can't those media guys cover more important things?" Homer gripes.

While they're speaking to the camera, Bart can be seen making silly faces while Lisa holds up a sign which reads "Free Tibet." Homer finally cuts to the chase and says that he and Marge are "solid as a rock."

"I mean, if she didn't dump me when I almost slept with the donut lady…" Homer trails off. 

The video came after Jean denied that the split would be permanent, adding that their parting will only last for an episode or two. 

"My advice to everybody is that we never carry anything longer than an episode or two," he said to the New York Post. 

In his interview with Variety, Jean said that at the start of the new season, Homer will be diagnosed with narcolepsy, putting a strain on the Simpsons' marriage. The two will then separate, and Homer will fall in love with his pharmacist, voiced by Lena Dunham. 

Jean said that for some reason, people thought that the separation was going to last forever. 

"I never said the word 'divorced'. That implies finality," Jean said.
