'Sims 4' DLC release date news: 'Backyard Stuff' set to arrive July 19

The Sims 4 - Backyard Stuff DLCEA/Maxis

"The Sims 4" continues to grow as the official website confirms that a brand-new DLC is coming this July 19. Titled "Backyard Stuff," the DLC allows players to expand their outdoor property by adding new decorations and activities such as cookouts, lawn water slides and picnics.

The site points out that there will be a plethora of new items that can be used to decorate the backyard such as a fountain or picnic tables and the like. Tables with picnic umbrellas can accomodate up to six Sims at a time, allowing the player to host a large backyard party and barbecue cookout.

New clothes and hairstyles are also going to be offered in the DLC and these will all take advantage of the new outdoor theme. This means there will be sunny-themed shirts and bikinis to really celebrate the summer and outdoor feel that the "Backyard Stuff" DLC is bringing to the game.

The lawn water slide is going to be one of the new activities available and it will count as both an exercise and as a fun activity. While this does take up stamina the DLC is also introducing something to compensate that: a drink pitcher that allows Sims to mix drinks and make items like lemonade or iced tea.

Not everything is going to be about partying outdoors as there are also items for relaxing and for improving a Sims' mood. Items will include a wind chime or a bird feeder to attract birds to sing. The wind chime can be customized by choosing through a wide variety of materials to use such as bamboo and ceramic. A full list of relaxing items have yet to be revealed.

EA and Maxis have launched an official gameplay trailer to showcase the DLC and its new additions in action. The "Backyard Stuff" DLC launches on July 19.
