Kody Brown and his wives have filed a request for the Supreme Court regarding their plea to legalize polygamy and cohabitation in the state of Utah, hinting that the show may be facing possible cancellation in the near future.

According to a report from Yahoo! News, the state of Utah had previously denied the Brown family's request to reconsider the polygamy laws in the state, and this will be the Browns' second attempt of getting it revised.

Some reports state that the show is facing cancellation due to the state of Utah deciding to uphold laws prohibiting a man from cohabitating with other women when he is legally married to one. If the Brown family is charged for breaking this law for the show, it is possible that the show will be canceled, and the Brown patriarch may get imprisoned.

However, it was also pointed out that the legal issues are not the only problems Brown has to face as there are rumors that Robyn, his legal wife, and his other wives are threatening to leave the show. Given that Kody Brown is not the main draw of the show but his wives, it is possible that this will lead to cancellation.

The wives are allegedly planning to leave given that Brown has expressed desires of marrying two other women. By increasing the number of wives Brown has, it is rumored that the show may gain additional viewers, and this may help prevent the show from suddenly getting pulled by TLC.

However, if the show faces legal concerns and the wives all decide to depart, the report points out that Kody Brown cannot carry the show on his own. The wives, on the other hand, can start a series of their own without Kody appearing in it, similar to how "Jill and Jessa: Counting On" spawned from "19 Kids and Counting."

TLC has yet to make an official announcement regarding the renewal or cancellation of "Sister Wives."
