Conflicts within and around the Brown family are rumored to cause TLC to cancel "Sister Wives" season 8.

Rumors claim that reality show star Kody Brown and his four wives -- Meri, Janelle, Christine, and Robyn -- are not on good terms.

It may have started when speculations came out that Meri began to feel indifferent in her relationship with Kody after they legally divorced in 2014 so he could legally marry Robyn. Then Meri was involved in a catfishing scandal when she entered an online affair with a man who actually turned out to be a woman named Jacquelyn Overton.

The catfishing controversy was constantly tackled in "Sister Wives" season 7, where Kody appeared to have understood why Meri resorted to an online affair.

"You didn't want to be out of the family, you just wanted to be out of your relationship with me," Kody told Meri in one of the episodes, as reported by Radar Online.

But the fate of the reality show series remains uncertain after rumors claimed that Kody was demanding to add two more wives in his already large brood. His four wives were all against it, and the network does not seem to be keen on the idea. There are also speculations claiming that the current wives will leave the Brown patriarch if he pushes through with his plans.

However, there is no confirmation yet from the Browns if the rumors about the addition of new wives are true.

Meanwhile, FOX13 reports that Kody wants to file a petition in the U.S. Supreme Court for recognition of their polygamous union. According to the report, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor allowed the family to file a petition of certiorari so the highest court of the land can review the case that they filed against the state of Utah in 2012 due to its historic ban on plural marriage.

TLC is expected to make the announcement of the season 8 renewal of "Sister Wives" soon.
