Many "Skate" fans turned to the recently concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo 2016 to hear something good about the anticipated fourth installment of the game. However, the event ended and not a word was mentioned about "Skate 4."

Fans have been clamoring for "Skate 4" for a long time now. EA, the game developer and publisher, is aware of it, since it is impossible not to notice the comments of fans mentioning the game in comments on the posts of the company on Instagram.  Here is one example.

Many game followers also believe that the fourth game is in the works because of an alleged leak of "Skate 4" box art, which would prove the existence of the game for the Xbox One. Fans were also surprised to learn that a copy of "Skate 3" will come along, which has the Backward Compatibility feature, Nerdmuch reported.

However, fans were greatly disappointed not to hear any development news after EA mentioned other games, like "Madden NFL 2017," "Titanfall 2," "FIFA 17," "Star Wars: Motive," "Battlefield 1," and several "Star Wars" games.

More than a month back, the company already confirmed that the game is not currently in development, when a fan directly asked the question through Twitter. The post said, "We love the passion our players feel for the Skate franchise. A new game is not in development, but we appreciate your feedback."

"Skate" was originally launched in September of 2007 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It is the counterpart of Activision's "Tony Hawk's" series, also a skateboarding game. By November 2008, the Nintendo DS, Wii, and iOS received a spin-off version of the game.

"Skate 2" was released in January 2009, while "Skate 3" was made available by May 2010. Fans have been waiting for the fourth game since 2011.

For now, fans are hoping that something good will arrive by E3 2017.
