The trailer for the horror-game based movie "Slender Man" has been officially released, and has received mixed feedback from those who have already seen it. A few days before the release of the official trailer, a movie poster was released, which confirmed the title of the upcoming horror film. 

In the two-minute official movie trailer, it is apparent that the creators wanted to put an emphasis on disturbing imagery. There are slow-tracking shots of a forest, accompanied by bass-heavy and slow music, screaming children, along with monochrome clips of developing maggots, which are supposedly meant to serve as disturbing imagery. The trailer attempted to generate scares and anticipation, leading up to the reveal of the titular monster. 

It is important to note that there is no clear figure or image of the monster in the trailer.

The story will be covering some real-life incidents that occurred in the past related to the horror-game "Slender Man." Specifically, the story is inspired by a case in Ohio, wherein a of couple of pre-teen females claimed that the lanky and faceless monster urged them to attempt committing murder in 2014. The two were successful, and murdered their friend in a forest in Wisconsin, and they left the corpse in the woods -- only to be found by the local authorities later.

Some news outlets have stated that their impression of the "Slender Man" trailer is, in a nutshell, underwhelming. Apart from the fact that the imagery has been a strategy that has been repeatedly used by horror-film makers over the years, there just does not seem to be anything new that the trailer offers to the table in terms of innovative ways to scare audiences. However, only time will tell if the film is indeed one worth watching. 

"Slender Man" will hit theaters sometime in May.
