Snapchat, Instagram updates, features: 3D Bitmoji Lenses and Sky Filters now available on Snapchat; Instagram introduces multi-streams

Two of the most popular apps in the world, Snapchat and Instagram, have given everyone some updates on the app's performance. From new filters, emoji, as well as an updated live stream feature.

It came as quite a surprise to many users that Instagram took a leaf out of Snapchat's playbook by introducing Instagram stories, which is pretty much what Snapchat is about – filters included. Recently, the app has introduced a new feature in its update that allows friends to live stream together.

This feature will be an option that comes in the form of a request button, so users can choose whether or not to join in a friend's live stream. When the person who started the live stream accepts the request, the stream screen will divide in half and will either appear vertically or horizontally, depending on how users will watch the stream.

This does pose a question of how many people can join in a stream at once, though. As of now, Instagram only supports a maximum of two people per live stream. Those who start the live stream can add or remove the guest at any time, or they can choose to leave the stream on their own.

As for Snapchat, the newest update on the app brings in more fun filters. The app has launched Sky Filters for users to transform their photos. They will automatically appear in the filter carousel when users include parts of the sky in their photos, and the options will rotate every day.

These new filters can definitely make photos a lot more dramatic. It will allow the users to repaint the sky, with starry nights, storm clouds, a beautiful sunset, as well as rainbows among other filters that will be available. The company is also currently making more 3D Bitmoji lenses available for everyone who uses the app.

Users will be able to see their Bitmojis come to life with the 3D Bitmoji World Lenses.
