Rapper Snoop Dogg, best known for his gangster music, has responded to haters who criticized his new Gospel album, "Bible of Love." The 32-track release has been dominating the Billboard charts since it debuted on March 16.

During an appearance at the 33rd Stellar Awards, Snoop Dogg sounded off when asked about his shift to Gospel music. Critics of his new album were apparently "offended" that he has chosen to do Gospel songs and the rapper did not mince words in his response.

"I thought church was supposed to welcome sinners," Snoop Dogg told TV One following his performance at the Gospel music event. "If the church was full of saints it wouldn't be right. So, if you find someone trying to find their way back home, the natural thing to do is to be warm welcoming," he added.

The rapper, however, also said that he has yet to hear anyone actually saying anything negative about his decision to do Gospel music to his face. He revealed that no one has confronted him about it and most of the negativity comes from when he's being interviewed only.

"The only negativity I get is when a question is asked," Snoop Dogg stated. "But I have never been confronted with anybody in the gospel world."

The 46-year-old rapper, who was born Cordozar Calvin Broadus Jr., told Los Angeles Sentinel that he always planned on releasing a Gospel album. He said that his previous music "dibbled and dabbled in the Gospel world" and the project to dedicate an album entirely covering faith-based songs and featuring Christian artists has always been on his mind.

Despite his reputation as a gangster rap artist, whose songs have included profanity and allusions to violence, Snoop Dogg said that his life behind the recording studio is more attuned to the Gospel world. He believes his rap music has even helped bring peace, saying in the interview: "Do you know how many wars I stopped in rap?"
