Solange, Jay-Z fight video update: Hotel fires employee that leaked video to TMZ

The Standard Hotel employee that leaked the CCTV video of Solange physically attacking Jay-Z was fired yesterday.

The employee, whose name was not released, was dismissed for recording the security footage and leaking it to entertainment site TMZ.

The video shows Solange, Beyoncé's sister, hitting and kicking Jay-Z, Beyoncé's husband, in a wild attack in the hotel's elevator. The fight occurred during the Met Gala after-party on May 5.

After the video leak, the Standard pledged to investigate the incident and prosecute the culprit. In a statement released Wednesday, the hotel said an employee was identified and fired for "breaching the security policies of the hotel and recording the confidential CCTV video."

According to Page Six, the former employee propositioned several media outlets over the course of five days before deciding to sell the video to TMZ. The entertainment site reportedly paid $250,000 for the footage.

Neither Beyoncé, Jay-Z, nor Solange's camp have released statements regarding the fight, but their actions on social media are telling.

On May 7, superstar singer Beyoncé posted a message on her Instagram account asking God to remove negative people from her life.

"My Prayer to God," the post began. "Give me discernment and strength to separate myself from anyone who is not a good influence. I release all my relationships to You and pray that Your will be done in each one of them."

On May 13, the day after the leak, Solange, 27, deleted several pictures of her sister from Instagram, leading some to speculate that she was putting distance between herself and Beyoncé.

Beyoncé, 32, countered the photo purge on Thursday by posting four throwback photos of herself and her sister on Instagram. Only one photo was captioned, simply reading "Good morning."

Jay-Z, 44, has not posted anything on Twitter since May 4. In photo and video footage of the trio leaving the hotel after the elevator attack, the rapper appears bewildered.

He held the side of his face and adjusted his clothing as he walked toward a waiting vehicle, and was stopped by a bodyguard when he tried to enter the same car as Solange. Beyoncé got in the same car as her sister.
