Following the conclusion of the FX series "Sons of Anarchy" in 2014, speculations are rife that a prequel of some sort will be made. It was just late last year that series producer Kurt Sutter teased about a prequel consisting of 10 or 12 episodes.

Since Sutter dropped the hints during an interview with Deadline, fans have been eager to know more about the prequel and its release date. The hype was fueled even more by Charlie Hunnam, who played Jax Teller in the series, when he hinted in an interview with Men's Journal that Brad Pitt may step up to play the role of Jax's father, John.

"Did you read that about Brad Pitt maybe playing my dad? Brad Pitt as John Teller. How awesome would that be?" Hunnam said in an interview with Men's Journal.

The prequel is also said to focus on the heydays of the Sons of Anarchy Motorcycle Club Redwood Original (SAMCRO), particularly how John met and became friends with Piney (William Lucking) and started the motorcycle club. Sutter also shared the possibility that the prequel will be set in Vietnam War era and will only be a limited series.

Sutter may have given some clues as to what the plot for the sequel may be, but there's still no confirmation on whether or not it will be released or when it will be released.

While the prequel is still unconfirmed, fans won't have to miss the Sons of Anarchy-verse so much because a spin-off is underway. The spin-off is reportedly in development since last year. It is said to focus more on the Hispanic motorcycle gang based in Oakland — the Mayans.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the series will be set in Northern California, but Sutter took to Twitter to clear the details and wrote, "Mayan Project won't take place in NoCal. That steps on SOA mythology. Although I'd love to find a way to use my brother, @EmilioRivera48."
