Online services for Sony's PlayStation (PS) Store and Nintendo's eShop encountered problems during Christmas, leaving PS4 and Switch owners to suffer for a few hours.

According to Gamespot, PS4 owners had trouble redeeming their vouchers at the PlayStation Store, a problem to which Sony has admitted. However, more PS4 owners claimed that the issue is not limited only to redeeming vouchers and that PlayStation's online services itself have issues.

Similarly, Nintendo had the same problems with their online service connection. The company, through their official Twitter account, immediately apologized to their customers and promised for the issue to be resolved as soon as possible.

Fortunately, both Sony and Nintendo's online services recovered after a few hours. One possible reason for the connection problem could be the volume of players accessing the PSN Store and eShop store during the team leading to the congestion.

Both companies have not released any statement regarding what happened.

In other news, Sony has launched their second wave of "Holiday Flash Sale" on Dec. 22 for PS4 players looking for new games to play. As previously reported, Sony's recent "Holiday Flash Sale" hosted the sale of numerous PS4 exclusives.

This includes the Japanese games "Persona 5" and "Yakuza," which retailed for $40 and $20, respectively. Sony's "Holiday Flash Sale" also included "South Park: The Fractured But Whole" and "Street Fighter V" which retailed for $30 and $32, respectively. Major game titles like "Assassin's Creed: Origins" and the controversial "Star Wars: Battlefront II" were retailed for $30 and $40, respectively.

"FIFA 18," "Final Fantasy 9 Digital Edition," and "Gran Turismo Sport" retailed for $30, $14.69, and $29.59, respectively. However, the highlight of the "Holiday Flash Sale" went to the "Call of Duty: WWII" and "Destiny 2" bundle for $78. The bundle was also available for Xbox One (via Xbox Store) for the same price (standard editions only).

Sony's "Holiday Flash Sale" ended on Tuesday, Dec. 26.
