Sony Xperia C3 successor appeared in mystery phone benchmarks?

Sony Xperia C3

The alleged successor of the Sony Xperia C3 may be released soon as a new smartphone was spotted in a number of benchmarks. The rumored handset has appeared in GFXBench, Geekbench, and CompuBench.

Based on the listings, the successor of the Xperia C3 will have model number E2303 and will feature a 5.2-inch screen panel with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. The smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm's octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor with 64-bit architecture and Adreno 405 graphics co-processor. The listings also showed that the handset will sport 2 GB of RAM, 4 GB internal storage, Android 5.0 Lollipop OS, 12- or 13-megapixel back camera and 5-megapixel front-facing camera.

The first generation Xperia C has a model number C2305 SKU and the Xperia C3 has code number D2533. Thus, Sony E2303 and E2333 could be the next generation in the Xperia C series.

Aside from the Xperia C3, the Japan-based OEM manufacturer will also release the Xperia Z4 soon. The Sony Xperia Z4 will be the company's next flagship smartphone, but contrary to earlier speculations, it will not be released during the upcoming Mobile World Congress. Reports are speculating that the handset will be launched at a later date.

The Xperia Z4 smartphone is purported to have a 5-inch screen display with either a quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) or full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. Other rumored features of the handset are: Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 processor, Adreno 420 graphics co-processor, 4 GB of RAM, 24-megapixel back camera with dual LED flash and 12-megapixel front-facing camera, PlayStation Remote Play, IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, and longer battery life.

The aforementioned smartphones are still not concrete and the rumored features are not yet set in stone. Sony's smartphone division was not pretty successful in the past years and it has reportedly caught the attention of the investors who are considering closing its mobile arm. Before it says goodbye, the company has allegedly decided to cut back in the quantity of mid-range smartphones it delivers to the market and will focus mainly on its high-end smartphone.
