Sony's future smartphone offerings will fall under the Sony Xperia X line. According to Xperia Blog, Sony will no longer release Xperia C and M units and will instead go with the X moniker until 2018.

The Sony Xperia X line, which includes the much-talked-about Sony Xperia X Performance, makes up "chapter 3" of Sony's product plans and outings. This phase runs from 2016 to 2018.

Despite the fact that Sony is just going with one brand, this does not mean that Sony's products will be limited. Xperia Blog explains that Sony is simply classifying its future mobile releases as Sony Xperia X, but their makings and specs will most likely be comparable to its other famed line-ups that fans know and love.

In related news, Sony Xperia X Performance is expected to be available later this month in the U.S. It is important to note that although the device comes with 32GB storage, 12GB of this will be occupied by the firmware.

Because of this, Sony Xperia X Performance users will only get to maximize 20GB of the storage with their apps, games, music, photos, videos and other files. The same can be said in the Sony Xperia X.

While it can be off-putting tomany, seeing that in other flagships, users got to make use of greater space, there's always the option to expand with a micro SD card.

The Sony Xperia X Performance, the premium edition of the Xperia X line, comes with a 5-inch Full HD display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor. This is paired with a 3GB RAM and a 2,700 mAh battery. Imaging-wise, users are getting a 23MP rear-facing camera.

The Sony Xperia X Performance will be available to Sony's home fort Japan this June. The device is said to hit the U.S. this month. Sony will not be officially bringing the flagship to U.K. although users in the region can get it from third-party sellers.
