Sony Mobile's Xperia X and Samsung's Galaxy S7 are two of the latest flagships in the market. But even if the two carry top-tier specs, some of the key features that fans expected seem to be missing. One of these features is Quick Charge 3.0.

According to Phone Arena, although the Samsung Galaxy S7 lineup is powered by Qualcomm's newest chipset, Snapdragon 820, the two iterations don't support the processor's Quick Charge 3.0 feature.

While the South Korea-based tech giant did not say why they decided to lock the feature in the new flagship variants, the industry follower surmised that the company may be after uniformity across all versions of the Galaxy S7.

Aside from the Snapdragon 820 chipset, there is also a Galaxy S7 version that is powered by Samsung's homegrown processor, Exynos. While these processors don't have Quick Charge feature installed, they have fast charging technology that mirrors Quick Charge 2.0 speeds, which are the maximum fast-charge speeds for the Galaxy S7's Snapdragon 820 variants.

Meanwhile, Gadgets by NDTV adds that Sony's Xperia X, which is powered by Snapdragon 650, also doesn't have Quick Charge 3.0 onboard even though the chipset can technically unlock the feature. The industry observer stated that Sony Mobile has yet to clear the issue.

The Quick Charge feature is an add-on from Qualcomm to its new chipsets. With the feature live on mobile devices, charging times are cut drastically. Android Authority explained that the speed of charging devices has been increased fourfold by this technology. The new Quick Charge 3.0 tech optimizes charging with voltage control, meaning there is no danger of overheating or damaging the battery.
