The Sony Xperia X Ultra is the latest phone to supposedly have its design released to the public prior to the official rollout of the device.

MobileXpose, which first revealed the images online, notes that the handset comes with an "ultra-wide" display at 6.45 inches, with a screen ratio of 21:9. Android Headlines theorizes, based on the designs, that the phone's slim bezel is the reason for its large screen size, although it is actually difficult to see how large the bezels are given the black-on-black appearance on the images.

Two color variants — red and grey/black — are revealed in the leaked images, although it is not clear yet if these will be the only colors that the Sony Xperia X will come in.

The handset will reportedly come with a Snapdragon 660 chipset, 4 GB of RAM, and 64 GB internal memory. As with other Sony handsets, it is presumed that the memory can be expanded by adding a microSD card, although this is not mentioned in the leak. It is rumored to run on an Android 7.0 Nougat operating system. Its rear camera is said to have a maximum setting of 19 megapixels, while the front camera is at 13 megapixels. It also bears dual speakers.

The battery is said to have a 3050 mAh capacity and will support fast charging. As with other Sony Xperia phones, the phone will purportedly have IP68 certification, which simply means that the handset will be dust- and water-resistant.

Sony has yet to make a statement if the leaked images, or the rumored specs of the handset, are legitimate. The company also has not revealed yet when the phone will come out, as well as its price. Blogging Republic speculates that the phone will be released by the end of the year.

The last phone released on the Sony Xperia X line was its Compact version, which came out in September 2016.
