The unveiling of Sony's Xperia Z4 may happen sooner than expected as a new benchmark of the device leaked online, catapulting the rumors back to the probable Mobile World Congress launch.

Sony's flagship smartphone was spotted in listing website Geekbench. Aside from hinting its imminent release, the listing also revealed some of the specifications of the device. The benchmark supports the long rumored features of the smartphone, which includes Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 810 SoC and the new Android operating system. The new leak specifically states that the handset will run with the 5.0.2 version of the Lollipop OS.

Previous rumors claimed that the Z4 will feature a screen of no less than 5 inches with either a quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) or full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. The new handset will also sport a 24-megapixel back camera with dual LED flash and a 12-megapixel front facing camera as well as a longer battery life. Under the hood, consumers will be surprised with its Adreno 420 graphics co-processor and 4 GB of RAM.

Sony Xperia Z handsets stand out from the crowd because of their unique features such as PlayStation Remote Play and IP68 certification for water and dust resistance. However, Sony is still mum about the actual specs and features of its flagship handset.

Previously, the MWC was the platform used by the company for making elaborate announcements about its new devices. However, some rumors say that waiting fans shouldn't expect an early launch this year as the smartphone will allegedly be released in summer at the earliest.

Xperia Blog stated that Sony will still be present in the aforementioned trade show; however, instead of holding a press conference like what it did during the Consumers Electronic Show last month, it will have a low key presence in the event. This hints that no major Sony device will take center stage in the show.

Still, with the leaked benchmark, there's still the possibility of seeing the Sony Xperia Z4 at the MWC.
