Japanese multinational conglomerate Sony is reportedly preparing to unveil Xperia Z5, a new smartphone and successor to the Xperia Z4, this September, according to reports. Phone Arena says the company plans to unveil the new phone in Japan.

Reports suggest the Xperia Z5 handset will come with high-end specs and improved performance and features over its predecessor. International Business Times UK reports that the new handset will be powered by a massive 4500 mAh battery alongside Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 SoC processor and a large 4 GB RAM.

Sony recently released its Xperia Z3+ smartphone in the global market. The Sony Xperia Z3+ was previously called Xperia Z4 exclusively for the Japanese market. Sony also began releasing the new Xperia C4 selfie-centric smartphone in Asia and later plans to release it to other regions in the world.

In comparison with its predecessor, the Sony Xperia Z3+ has a 2930 mAh battery and is powered by Qualcomm's MSM8994 Snapdragon 810 processor alongside 3 GB RAM.

It's still unclear how large the display screen of the Xperia Z5 is and how much pixel resolution it will have. In addition, reports say the Xperia Z5 will come with fingerprint scanning technology. On the back, it is expected to have a powerful 21 mega pixel camera that comes with HDR capability and enables would-be owners to record and capture live 4K video quality.

Reports also say the Xperia Z5 smartphone will be available in two variants: Sony Xperia Z5 Compact and Sony Xperia Z5 Ultra. In terms of design, iDigital Times reports the new smartphone will be based on the "OmniBalance" design that comes with waterproof capability.

Before Sony's recent launch of the Xperia Z4, rumors had surfaced on the existence of the Xperia Z5 model which was expected at that time to launch right before the end of this year.
