Sony Xperia Z5 prices discounted for series ahead of release

For those who have heard, the prices of the upcoming Xperia Z5 series are not exactly something that one can easily afford. The suggested retail prices are by no means a bit steep so such could probably make consumers look for something cheaper and something of equal or at least close to what any of the Z5 members have to offer.

But lo and behold, it looks like Sony has recognized the variance and price and have slashed the prices. The price cut ranges between 7 percent to 21 percent on the upcoming Xperia Z5 models. Do take note, however, that the price cuts are only offered in the United Kingdom.

The first thing that comes to mind is whether or not the price reduction would be offered globally. But on the safe side, it may be wise to await the announcement from other regions outside the United Kingdom.

Based on the listing at the Sony UK website, the Sony Xperia Z5 now costs $840 compared to the original $910.

The Xperia Z5 Premium gets a $100 price off from an original suggested retail price (SRP) of $1,062 to $962.

The biggest price slash is on the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact (down 21%) which is now being offered at $656 from the original SRP of $962. Take note that the prices were based on conversion to the US dollar.

There is no confirmed reason for now behind the sudden drop in SRP but then again consumers would not care much as long as it stands. A fair reasoning behind it would be because Sony may do well to offer their upcoming phones at a more reasonable price range considering their rivals in the smartphone segment do have their own offerings which cost a whole lot less.

Could the ploy work to Sony's advantage as far as drawing in more customers and up its market share?
