Sony announced a new line up for its home entertainment for this year, and it includes a TV that is thinner than a smartphone. 

Back in January at this year's Consumer Electronics Show, Sony treated fans to a sneak peek on what flagships the company has in store in their home entertainment system lineup. One of the things that captured CES participants is the newest ultra-thin 4K TV that Sony hopes to launch this year. 

Fast forward several months and Sony has announced that, indeed, the newest flagship for their home entertainment system is the ultra thin, ultra HD TV. The company plans to release the newest range of TVs, dubbed the Super Thing UltraHD, this coming summer. 

Equipped with a 4K Processor X1, Sony promises the new range of televisions to offer better picture. In terms of image quality, they will come with a 3840 x 2160 resolution with high brightness and 4K colors. Viewers can also access online media content sites like YouTube, Netflix, and Google Play. 

The new TVs will be available in two versions. First, there is the X900C models, which will come in 55-inch and 65-inch variants. For those who would want a much bigger view, Sony would also offer a 75-inch X910C model. The three versions would be bezel-less, sporting the company's Vanishing Edge technology. What this means is that the display view would run from edge to edge. 

Aside from that, the devices would really define what "thin" means in terms of home entertainment devices, as the televisions would only measure 4 mm at their thinnest. The bottom is noticeable thick, though, as it houses the ports for HDMI, A/V, and USB connectivity. 

The new super thin HD TVs from Sony will be available this summer, with the prices yet to be announced.
