Soul Survivor & Momentum: Light The Sky

Kingsway have announced the latest live album from one of Europe’s largest youth events. 2010 was the eighteenth annual Soul Survivor summer festival, and with the sixteen tracks on offer in ‘Light The Sky’, it’s clear that the 30,000 festival-goers are making as much noise as ever.

Having introduced us to the likes of Matt Redman, Tim Hughes and Ben Cantelon, Soul Survivor’s reputation is strong. Worship is central to the action, and Light The Sky is as full of great songs and maximum passion as ever.

This year’s worship leaders include Tim Hughes and Beth Croft as well as 18-year-old Tom Field and 16-year-old Jamie Rodwell. From the opening upsurge of ‘Holding Nothing Back’ through to the illuminations of ‘Light The Sky’, the album fizzes with the energy and urgency of the moment.

This year’s album is in two parts; ten tracks recorded at the main Soul Survivor festival with a further six on a second disk recorded at the student-aged Momentum festival. Across the two are a range of covers that breathe yet more life into the project; from the Redman/Tomlin song ‘Our God (Is Greater)’, through to Hillsong United ‘No Reason To Hide’, Ben Cantelon ‘Saviour of the World’ and the justifiably ubiquitous ‘How He Loves’ by John Mark McMillen.

Other standout tracks released for the first time include Tim Hughes’s ‘All Glory’, the
spontaneous ‘Our Hope’ and ‘Cielo/Saviour King’.
